Wheatgrass – the real truth!
Want to know the real truth about wheatgrass?
We did, so we started researching.
Scientific research was hard to find but there is so much anecdotal
evidence out there about wheatgrass and barley grass, so many people
swear by it………there must be something to it!
As the name suggests, wheatgrasshealth.info was created to provide as
much quality information about wheatgrass and cereal grasses
as possible, including real scientific research that has been done.
This information is for everyone, and if there is something that is
not covered about wheatgrass please let us know and we will try to get
it onto the website.
So, lets start at the beginning………………
What is Wheatgrass or Wheat Grass?
Wheatgrass is a variety of cereal grass that is used
as a herbal medicine for its therapeutical and nutritional properties.
Wheatgrass is available in a variety of ways. Most commonly, wheatgrass
is juiced and drank fresh, but you can also get wheatgrass
as a dehydrated powder or tablet form which you mix with water and drink.
Wheatgrass based creams and sprays are also available which are used
for topical (applied directly to the skin) applications for skin healing.
What is the difference between Wheatgrass and wheat grass?
Wheatgrass is often referred to as the tray-grown grass that is sold
in most juice bars. Wheat grass is when it is grown in large fields.
The Benefits of Drinking Wheatgrass
Since wheatgrass juice is raw, drinking it gives us
the vitamins, minerals and enzymes we need in one of the freshest and
most natural forms available. It is quite simply one of the healthiest
things you can put in your body. Wheatgrass is great to take as part
of a long term prevention to maintain good health.
“You are the healer, Wheatgrass is the energizer.”

Wheatgrass verses Barley grass
Despite being a website dedicated to wheatgrass – we treat
all cereal grasses with the same enthusiasm and respect. Most
cereal grasses, whether they be wheat, barley, oats, rye or kamut belong
to the same family (Triticum) and have very similar properties. Some
believe that Barley grass has more benefits than other cereal grasses
and this is perhaps because it appears that there has been more research
done into barley grass than wheatgrass. We prefer wheatgrass because
it tastes better than barley – you can make up your own mind.

Choice Magazine - Wheatgrass won’t work wonders!!
Viola Korczak from Choice Magazine in Australia (published by the Australian
Consumers Association which has a very solid reputation) has published
an article which almost all of the country’s leading newspapers have picked
up and copied almost word for word.
The result is that almost immediately after the article was released,
if you typed in the word “wheatgrass” in an Australian Google search,
6 out of the top 10 listings stem from the choice magazine article trashing
wheatgrass.
As you would expect, there has been an angry response from
the wheatgrass industry towards this article. The article was
badly researched, and only a very small proportion of trials that have
been done into wheatgrass were referenced. Because this criticism is
coming from a very reputable source (Australian Consumers Association),
it could be damaging to a natural therapy that has helped many thousands
of people with their health. Many people have been greatly benefited
from the use of wheatgrass juice.
